Obi is a robotic dining device blending cutting edge technology, elegant design, intuitive controls, and personality to deliver a fun and dignified dining experience.

 

IS OBI RIGHT FOR ME?

Obi delivers dining independence to nearly any individual lacking upper extremity motor control. These conditions include, but are not limited to:

  • ALS
  • Arthrogryposis
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Muscular Dystrophy
  • Parkinson’s
  • Spinal Cord Injury
  • Traumatic Brain Injury

In order to operate Obi, the end user must be able to chew and swallow freely as well as have the cognitive capability to operate a simple device.

WHAT DO I GET WHEN I ORDER AN OBI?

Your order will arrive with a new Obi device, set of pressure switches, plate, placemat, two spoons and a charging cable. The box will also contain the user manual, quick start guide, and welcome sheet with information necessary to setup and use Obi.

 

WHAT SHOULD I KNOW ABOUT PURCHASING OBI FOR A LOVED ONE?

When purchasing an Obi for someone you know, please ensure that they have the ability to chew and swallow freely as well as the cognitive capability to operate a simple device. The user will also require caregiver support to prepare the device, monitor the meal and clean Obi after use.

 

WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?

Obi devices can be purchased with any major credit card, ACH, or certified money order.

 

WHAT ARE THE SHIPPING COSTS?

We use only internationally recognized shipping companies. Shipping costs are calculated based upon delivery location.

 

WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL
OR MODIFY MY ORDER?

If you realize you need to modify or cancel your Obi order, please notify us immediately via email at [email protected] or via phone at 1-844-HELP-OBI (435-7624). If your order has already shipped, you will be required to pay the shipping and handling on any subsequent necessary shipping.

 

IS OBI WATER PROOF OR WATER RESISTANT?

Obi is water resistant and should be treated as such around potential splash sources. Please treat Obi as you would any other delicate electronic device such as a computer.

 

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO TRANSPORT OBI?

Obi is best transported in the box in which it was received or in a well-padded backpack. Please use caution when placing and removing Obi from the backpack to ensure that it is not lifted by the arm, but rather by holding the base.

HOW DO I TEACH OBI TO BRING FOOD TO A USER’S MOUTH? CAN OBI DELIVER FOOD BELOW THE BASE OF THE DEVICE?

Obi can accommodate a wide range of user positions. Instructions to teach user positions can be found in the quick start guide and user manual. Obi has the ability to deliver food approximately equal to the height of the plate.

 

HOW DO I CLEAN OBI?

The spoon, placemat and plate are waterproof and have been designed to be dishwasher safe. If you chose to wash them in a dishwasher, please use the top rack when possible. The Obi body and arm are wipe down safe and should be cleaned with a sanitary wipe or damp wash cloth. Over exposure to water could potentially damage the device and should be avoided.

HOW DO I CHARGE OBI?
HOW LONG DOES THE BATTERY LAST?

On a full charge, Obi should last around 2-4 hours of dining time. To maximize battery life, one should not use Obi continuously for periods over two hours. Once hooked to the charging cable, Obi should fully charge in 1-2 hours.

 

CAN I CHANGE OBI’S BATTERY?

No, Obi is powered by a permanent, rechargeable lithium-ion battery. Any attempts to swap the battery can damage the internal components of Obi and will void the warranty. Any service to the battery or other components should be done by an authorized service representative. Please contact us at 1-844-HELP-OBI (435-7624).

 

IS OBI A REGISTERED MEDICAL DEVICE?

Obi is registered with the FDA as a Class 1 Medical Device.

 

ARE OBI’S COMPONENTS FOOD-GRADE SAFE?

Yes, Obi’s plate, placemat and spoon are all food-grade plastic and can be placed in a microwave, dishwasher, fridge or freezer without concern. The remainder of the device is not food grade plastic and therefore, food should not be consumed off other parts of Obi.
